Cat lady reputation is now in full force and I'm now getting specifically cat based commissions. Although, due to a house move I have had to loan out my own cat for a while so not sure I qualify for that title any more...!

It's been a busy day today posting out my orders! Here's the range of hand screen printed Christmas cards that you can buy from my online shop: katehazell.bigcartel.com. They are £2.75 each (plus 60p postage) or you can get any four, for £10 (plus 90p postage). They are A6 and come folded with envelopes and a cellophane wrapper. Whether it's a tipsy robin, a chuffing reindeer or festive lettering of seasonal greetings that takes your fancy, get em while they're hot!

Me–Ow
So, my cat Vince got run over and broke his jaw. Cat lady therapy = draw a picture of it, make it into a postcard and send it to people to plug your work! Shameless cashing in, but hey, those vet bills don't pay for themselves. Got a nice little feature on Wrap Magazine's Facebook page.

Workshop at Windsor & Newton HQ
Last week I was chuffed to get invited to Windsor & Newton's head quarters in Shepherds Bush to take part in an acrylic paint workshop. Myself and a small group of painters, sculptors and mixed media artists listened to their chief chemist talk about the science behind the paint (haven't used that part of my brain for a while...) and had a tour of the labs. A room full of stacked tubs containing the powdered pigments in beautiful colours and machines that squish all the ingredients together.
Afterwards, we got to try out various paints and mediums, varnishes, flow improvers and spray paints.
It was a good experience to be out of my comfort zone using brushes and canvas board as I always use pen and ink for my illustrations. I'll be getting stuck into my goody bag of samples and seeing what happens!

Illustrated Christmas Cardooo
I was rather excited to receive my Cardooo sample which will be hitting the shops for Christmas 2013. I was commissioned to illustrate the story of Ivy the Christmas fairy as she prepares for the festive season. It will include mini cards you can pull out and write, a fold out page of colouring in and stickers to decorate the tree.

It's been ages!
Well that was just a little gap in communication. Time to resurrect this stream of exciting waffle.
There's been lots going on in the last two years including many more things for Darn It & Sitch, a 30 meter long wall drawing for Pizza Express in Nottingham and a new logo for Made by Loulabelle. I've also collaborated on a fish pun based exhibition in a fish and chip shop as Mussell & Skate and done a couple of spot illustrations for Food & Wine magazine. Keep your eyes peeled for regular updates.
