Skelly Ghosts
Skelly Ghosts inspired by David Shook's poem:
Below there are policemen, shoe shines, nurses, dwarves, muggers.
Flames leap from windows & the sirens' shriek proclaims
the lordship of violence.
Here on the tenth floor we dead walk with suspicion, distressed,
alert, they won't kill us again.

I Know Your Body by David Shook.
I know Your Body
after Victor Teran
If you were a city
I could give perfect directions
to wherever they asked me,
I could map your neighborhoods &
catalogue your smells.
If you were a city
I would get lost every day
down some new corridor.
I would toss my map, hitchhike
your suburbs, wonder your downtown

Illustration commission: A poem about a nose!
Here's a recent private commission to illustrate a poem about a nose! I used pen and ink and I think the poem is genius.

Big Society Wall illustration Oxford
Happy new year, happy new project! Last week I finished working with Big Society, a new bar opening in Oxford. They commissioned me to create and paint large scale illustrations along with lettering and signage to for walls. Here is a sneak preview showing what's in store when they open soon! More pictures to come...

Cat commission! Another ink drawing of a cat....

Cat lady reputation is now in full force and I'm now getting specifically cat based commissions. Although, due to a house move I have had to loan out my own cat for a while so not sure I qualify for that title any more...!

Me–Ow
So, my cat Vince got run over and broke his jaw. Cat lady therapy = draw a picture of it, make it into a postcard and send it to people to plug your work! Shameless cashing in, but hey, those vet bills don't pay for themselves. Got a nice little feature on Wrap Magazine's Facebook page.

Workshop at Windsor & Newton HQ
Last week I was chuffed to get invited to Windsor & Newton's head quarters in Shepherds Bush to take part in an acrylic paint workshop. Myself and a small group of painters, sculptors and mixed media artists listened to their chief chemist talk about the science behind the paint (haven't used that part of my brain for a while...) and had a tour of the labs. A room full of stacked tubs containing the powdered pigments in beautiful colours and machines that squish all the ingredients together.
Afterwards, we got to try out various paints and mediums, varnishes, flow improvers and spray paints.
It was a good experience to be out of my comfort zone using brushes and canvas board as I always use pen and ink for my illustrations. I'll be getting stuck into my goody bag of samples and seeing what happens!
